The Romanian issuing authority is the National Bank. According to the law, the Bank is the only one entitled to establish the material, the design and the mintage of the coins.

Circulation coins minting is the main activity of the State Mint. To achieve this purpose, the mint’s technical endowment includes high productivity monetary presses, numerical control tool machines and, last but not least, a qualified and experienced employees. Also, the Mint has its own plants for blanks fabrication.

Working mainly for covering the Romanian market needs, the Mint worked also for foreign clients.
